Episode 28: When being a weeb makes you prepared for Gnomon

Will is in on Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider vol 2: Impossible Year, Falcon & Winter Soldier: Cut off One Head, and Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer vol 10: Green Goblin Returns. Steve sets out on chapter 4 of Gnomon, with yet another narrator and subplot.

Back to our old tricks. Will spills the beans on Conan: Battle for the Serpent Crown, Spider-Man Noir: Twilight in Babylon, Hawkeye: Freefall, and Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer vol 9: Sins Rising (all from 2020). Steve gabbed about another (short) chapter of Gnomon by Nick Harkaway, giving us plenty of time for a larger conversation on the book, and also a bonus "treat" of Alpha Flight vol 2 #6-12 (1998) and Alpha Flight and Inhumans Annual 1998.

Episode 26: 50 Shades of Nate Gray, feat. Dimitrios Fragiskatos

Dimitrios Fragiskatos says he hates comics, but he can't escape them either. As a retailer, he owns Anyone Comics, as a publisher, he helped put out Access Guide to the Black Comic Book Community 2020-2021, and as a writer he co-created Millennials: You Are Special. We picked his brain about all those projects, but he proceeded to blow our mind about X-Man, then joined us for a Dawn of X big picture discussion.

Episode 25: Giant-Sized Dawn of X Podcast #5

It's our 25th episode, and in true comics style we celebrated that nice round number with another Giant-Sized Dawn of X Pod! Here we close out Dawn of X, the opening act of Jonathan Hickman's X-Men era, and talk about such other wonderful topics as Mojo vs Donald Trump, the importance of spandex, and Jeremy Bentham's Panopticon.

Episode 24: Empyre Empyre, hair on fire

Rough week for Will: first his hair caught on fire, then a friend said he wasn't a host of this podcast. Luckily, he got to read some lovely Empyre side-stories: Lords of Empyre, Empyre: Captain America and the Avengers, Captain Marvel vol 4: Accused, Fantastic Four by Dan Slott vol 6: Empyre, and Empyre: X-Men (all from 2020) — the last one joined by Steve, who's also got another knotted chapter of Gnomon by Nick Harkaway to untangle.

Episode 23: Outlawed and Empyre, or, Kree and Skrull torn no longer

It's crossover season! Will finishes Champions vol 1: Outlawed, and adds Ms. Marvel by Saladin Ahmed vol 3: Outlawed and Road to Empyre before getting to the good stuff: the big event of 2020, Empyre! Steve kicks off the main plot of Gnomon by Nick Harkaway, and tramples through a litany of symbols and themes along the way.

Big changes in our Mostly New, Slightly Different era of Hype is my Superpower! Will reads Miles Morales vol 4: Ultimatum, Strikeforce vol 2: Fight Me, and the start of Champions vol 1: Outlawed. Steve abandoned his 90s X-Men project (for now) to dig in to the novel Gnomon by Nick Harkaway.

Episode 21: Arno Stark's big year, or, Starscream Syndrome

Will went crazy with ten books! Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer vol 8: Threats and Menaces, Iron Man 2020: Robot Revolution, Iron Man 2020: iWolverine, Iron Man 2020: Force Works, Guardians of the Galaxy by Al Ewing vol 1: Then It's Us, Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky vol 4: End of Hell, Avengers of the Wastelands, Ghost Rider vol 2: Hearts of Darkness II, Star: Birth of a Dragon (all from 2020), and Incoming #1 (2019). Steve read Kitty Pryde: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Wolverine: Days of Future Past, Tales from Age of Apocalypse: Sinister Bloodlines, Wolverine vol 2 #119-122, Heroes Reborn: The Return, and Quicksilver vol 1 #1-3, and then swore off 1998 comic books entirely. For now.
